In the moments before today’s game between Spain and Argentina, Marelize de KLERK (RSA) was presented with a bouquet of flowers in recognition of umpiring her 200th international match.
The globally respected official is participating in her third World Cup event in Rosario, and has also umpired at no less than three Olympic Games’.
Marelize was presented with her flowers by FIH Vice-President Antonio von ONDARZA (FIH) and Umpires Manager Jan HADFIELD (AUS), who both offered their warm congratulations to her.
A joint statement from Jan HADFIELD (AUS) and fellow Umpires Manager Jane NOCKOLDS (ENG) regarding the achievement stated:
‘We are delighted Marelize has umpired her 200th international match here in Rosario. She is hugely respected by umpires all around the world. We look forward to seeing her umpiring for many more years to come.’
