SA U21 Ladies vs China

China and South Africa met in the first Pool F matchup on day five of the BDO Junior Women’s World Cup.

The match began with China fast on the attack and in control of the match. Finally, China scored in the 15th minute by #7 Jiahui Liao off a penalty corner to go up 1-0.

China continued to dominate the match and received many penalty corner opportunities throughout the first half. Unable to convert these penalty corners or score off a field goal, the first half ended with China up 1-0 over South Africa.

On their first penalty corner of the second half in the 43rd minute, China’s #15 Sinan Sun scored to give China the 2-0 lead.

Midway through the second half, South Africa replaced their starting keeper #1 Hanli Hattingh with #2 Camille Jasson. Despite constant pressure, South Africa’s defense held strong.

China could not get on the board again until the 62nd minute on a field goal by #9 Qiuling Zheng. China immediately rushed again on the attack and #11 Wenting Zhang scored on a field goal a minute later to give China a commanding 4-0 lead over South Africa.

In the 67th minute, Sun had her second goal of the match, this time off a field goal, to lead her team to a 5-0 win.
