Junior World Cup: SA U21 Ladies vs Argentina

Published on Saturday, August 8, 2009 by Admin

LadiesStory2Argentina came out on top today and shut out South Africa 5-0 for their second win of the tournament.

The score shows the offensive skills of the Argentines but they also proved themselves to be a formidable defense. As South Africa put on the pressure, the strikers just couldn’t get through the blue and white wall.

In the first half, Argentina dominated in the circle and scored off of two penalty corners. In the second half, South Africa came out strong, but the Argentines brought the action right back using their usual speed and agility. In the 50th minute, Macarena Rojas dribbled down the left side and drove it in the goal.

After the 3rd goal, the South Africans put in a new goalkeeper, but the Argentines fired back and #2, Delfina Marino scored the fourth goal. With two minutes remaining, #9, Carla Dupuy dribbled around the goalie and scored the fifth and final goal of the game.
